Take a few seconds today to think about your daily beauty routine, from the water consumption in the shower, to the consumption of beauty products and packaging, to the electricity used in drying and styling your hair. It’s such a small part of our day; but if we make better decisions on how we perform these daily tasks we can better ourselves by saving the environment and, in most cases, saving money as well.
Over the past year, I have researched and tested beauty products to find and recommend the best in class products for my readers, and highlighted when brands were changing their ways to become more socially conscious. In my research, I came across a celebrity hairstylist named David Babii (known for working on Kate Hudson and Angelina Jolie among others) who has built a socially conscious beauty line called DB4WildAid. His innovative new line contains natural and renewable ingredients. They are also free of sulphate, paraben, petrochemicals and animal products. In addition, ten percent of all profits are donated to WildAid, the global wildlife organization, to help save endangered animals.
I came across a few styling tips from David Babaii that will lead to better hair and a better planet.
To save water consumption and keep your hair fresh without a shampoo
In order to avoid excess oil or build-up, David suggests using a bit of baby powder throughout the hair. Acting as a dry shampoo it helps eliminate oil and leaves a fresh scent throughout the day. Alternatively, you could use a damp cotton pad and dab it around the hairline and roots to eliminate any excess oil.
To save electrical energy and get curls and texture without styling tools
For long hair, follow these steps:
Wash hair with the Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner, then spray your whole head with the Bohemian Beach Spray. Scrunch or twist sections and allow it to air dry. To set it all in place, lightly spray your hair Mise en Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray.
For short hair, follow these steps:
Wash hair with Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner, then spray your whole head with Bohemian Beach Spray. Add in some Molding Paste and play around with the texture until you are happy with the look.
To save energy and create style for stick straight hair
For super straight hair, David says that it’s all about using fun accessories. You could play around with head bands, hair pins, and clips to achieve a fun and playful look. Alternatively, you could your hair in a sleek low pony tail. Then, take small strands of hair and pin them on top of and underneath the pony tail to achieve a bouncy up-do for summer time.
