Q. Hi Catherine,
I tend to get acne on my shoulder and back, is there a product that can help me with this problem?
--Chris, Muskoka

Hi Chris,
Thanks for asking this question. If you have a mild acne situation it may be resolved with simply changing your cleanser.  You could try the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Cream Body Wash.  This body wash contains salicylic acid, an acne medication ingredient that aids in cutting down oil production and unclogging congested pores.  It also contains green tea and cucumber to help calm the acne area and reduce redness.  If your problem is more severe, you should speak to a dermatologist to get a stronger solution for acne prevention.

Q. Hi Catherine,
Is it true that rubbing cuticle oil over your nail will help to preserve your manicure?
--Wendy, Cayuga

Hi Wendy,
Yep, it’s one of my favourite tricks. Simply add a few drops of cuticle oil onto the nail bed and you can instantly see a nice sheen on the nail.  The oil will also sink into the cracks in your nail to smooth out imperfections as well as hydrate the cuticles and prevent hangnails.  Some good cuticle oils are Vitamin E by Sally Hansen and OPI Avoplex Cuticle Oil.

Q. Hi Catherine,
How can I create natural looking curls in my hair?  I want my hair to look more low maintenance than it is.
--Rebecca, North York

Hi Rebecca,
I wanted to get a hair stylists’ opinion on your question, so I did some research and the best tip I found was from celebrity hairstylist, David Babaii.  He suggests alternating between using a small and large curling iron to create tousled waves that vary in size.  By having a combination of sizes of curls, it will give the appearance of a more natural wavy texture to your hair.
