Q. Hi Catherine,
What are the most common beauty mistakes that women make?
--Gina, Whistler

Hi Gina,
In my opinion, the two biggest beauty blunders women make are forgetting to put moisturizer on their neck as well as their face and using their concealer as a foundation.  Women should definitely not ignore their neck when putting on moisturizer.  By simply applying a light layer of moisturizer it can help to keep the skin hydrated and supple.  The second common mistake is when women apply their concealer all over their face in place of a foundation.  Concealer is only to be used in select areas to even out skin tone and hide darker areas.  Foundation should be applied to complement the concealer and provide an even tone to the entire face.  Concealer is normally a lot heavier than foundation and when applied everywhere can make the skin look unnatural.

Q. Hi Catherine,
I feel like I’m using way too many hair styling products.  Is there a product available that can help me volumize my hair as well as protect it from heat damage?
--Candy, Peterborough

Hi Candy,
Thanks for your question.  I always get excited when I get to share new product finds with everyone.  Last year I discovered a great new line of hair products from Australia by Kevin Murphy which includes a volumizing spray called Heated Defense that also prevents against heat damage from dryers and styling irons.  For more information on this product, visit www.kevinmurphy.com.au.

Q. Hi Catherine,
Do I need to change my face products when it gets cold?
--Maggie, Brampton

Hi Maggie,
My suggestion would be to only change your skin care products if you feel like your skin isn’t getting what it needs from what you’re currently using.  If you feel your skin becoming drier or tighter you may want to switch to heavier day or night cream.  If you don’t feel a change to the texture of your skin, no change is necessary and you should continue with your skin care routine as it’s obviously working for you.
