Q. Hi Catherine,
I want to add a warm golden glow to my face over the summer because my skin is so fair, but I think that bronzers are too much for me, any suggestions?
--Kate, Abbotsford
Hi Kate,
If you are not feeling comfortable using a bronzer this summer but want to achieve a sun-kissed look, I would suggest simply using a peach tone blush dusted on the apples of your cheek and extend up your cheekbones. A great peach blush that I recommend is from Benefit Cosmetics, it’s called “Georgia Peach.” Another option is try a multi-toned bronzer that includes shimmer light tones as well as golden hues. A favourable one that I use personally is the Chanel Poudre Soleil Lumieres. This compact contains 4 shades that can be used separately or combined to create a more natural look.
Q. Dear Catherine,
How long can I stretch out a haircut before I need a trim?
--Amanda, Georgetown
Hi Amanda,
The timeframe honestly depends on the cut. The longer the hair, the longer span of time you can wait in between trims. If you have long layers, you can go up to 3 or 4 months before a cut is needed. The best way to tell if you need a trim or not is to look at the ends of your hair; if they are dry or starting to split, it’s time to visit your salon.
Q. Hi Catherine,
I hate my flabby midsection when I wear a bikini on the beach. Can you offer any quick fixes?
--Melanie, Burnaby
Hey Melanie,
This is probably not what you want to hear but when it comes to a not-so-flat tummy, there really is only one solution – exercise! However, I will suggest that a tanned midsection may detract attention from your waistline. For a quick solution, I would suggest that you use a self-tanner blended well all over your body including your back.
