The annual Grammy awards proves that the music industry is a business where your image can sometimes be more important than your music. Even so, the red carpet is often filled with ladies who leave audiences asking “what in the world were they thinking?” Here’s a look back at a few of the biggest disappointments over the years.

Of course no would expect this rapper to walk down the red carpet in a couture gown. But no one really expected Missy Elliott to be wearing this purple monstrosity. But she did. Wow.
