          Style Winners & Losers - February 1st, 2010

          Steph McGrath and Christopher Turner

Can you spot the drag queen in this week’s Style Winners and Losers?

Christopher: It looks like Christina Applegate is really stepping up her style game this year. Last week the actress (who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008) attended a fundraiser for the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills looking outstanding in a gorgeous satin Dolce & Gabbana dress. The ruched dress is absolutely gorgeous and that colour ensured that Christina was glowing. The open toe black pumps and a matching clutch were the perfect finishing touches. Catty fashion commentary aside…I would just like to say…in life…the woman is a true inspiration.
          His Verdict: Style Winner

Steph: I agree with your assessment. She looks radiant, sleek, polished and fashionable. I love this colour and the thick black bands around her waist and hips. I’m happy to see Christina look so healthy and beautiful, and I’m also excited about those cute little capped sleeves.

ok, i like it overall but there are some components i truly hate. The first is the puffy sleaves, on another dress they would look fine but on this one, they look out of place. The other major problem are the two bands, honestly i think that the top one is fine, though i don't think it adds anything to the dress, the second is not doing it for me. It draws attention away from her face and to her shins,. Honestly, imo it looks like Duct Tape!! srry btw i like the shoes

eventhough the general look is fine, the dress is akward to me ... the shoulders ... why the mix of black and silver/gray? it should've been the same colour for both details... Something looks wrong but the fit is nice!

Christina is truly an inspiration to all women. This dress had so much potential but they overdid it with the silly sleeves and black band around the hips...

She always looks good but I have to agree with most of the assessments of this dress. While it does not put her on the looser list, the sleeves should either have been in the same colour or no sleeves at all. That second band on her hips cuts her in the wrong place and has got to go.

Despite it all, she still looks gorgeous but then, she would look good in a sack!

I agree with both of the things you pointed out as being wrong, but I think it qualifies her as a style loser. Woulda coulda shoulda but this actual dress just doesn't work.

Ummm... she looks absolutely beautiful, random black bands or not, and the sleeves are gorgeous. There seem to be a lot of civilian commentators on here who don't like anything that doesn't look like you could buy a knockoff at Le Chateau.

The colours great, the sleeves are either fantastic or at least inoffensive, and best of all, the girl literally glows.

Hey, watch who you're calling a "civilian", Frenchie. Just cause we can't afford to shop in France doesn' t mean we don't know how to dress.

          why
          tralala
I would like to share the fact that I noticed on the home page of sympatico, whenever it comes to style winners and loosers, the black people represented are on the main pics are always loosers, yesterday was the same, today is the same... when the Goledn Globe fashion was posted, it was the same as well, I remember Hally Barry was absolutely magnifique in a long black classy perfectly fiting dress, not even one picture was posted...why is that?
Is seems who ever is responsible for fashion postings is very racist and you cannot fashion do not mix with racism as the inspiration for fashion comes from all over the wolrd...
and everyone brings their own touch, their flare and ways of puting things together...some are flashy, some subtle, elegant, loud, funky, ..ect. isn't that what fashion is all about?
Stop looking at what skin is wearing it! it is as though it is done purposely , lets post these well dressed caucasians and for the fashion disaster, lets put the pic of black woman...just find me one right now! (I know the probably a lot english errors in my writing but I am French, just learning english)
Also I noticed that here in North America, there's is no room for personal touch, for imagination in fashion. Everyone looks like everyone...it is like there is a set law of what is acceptable and if anyone tries to add there own personality to it, it is unacceptable ...that's it, there is no fashion personality here or only few people have it. All people do is to buy something with a name tag on and they are satisfied, they is no salt or pepper added to it. it has no flavor. It nice buying brand name things but it is little thing that you do that gives it flavor.it's truly sad.
